4 Good Contests

I don’t post ’em often, but hey, sometimes I like to roll the dice. These 4 stood out:

  • Win 540,000 American miles with a very quick entry…
  • Or 250,000 United miles for getting a newsletter…
  • Or 100,000 Starwood points for taking a picture.
  • Don’t forget 10 million Hilton points!

TuesDeals

Wow, that was a corny title. Yeah, sorry about that…

  • Small Business Saturday isn’t until November 29th. But registration opens this Sunday. Three $10 statement credits (a free 30 bucks) for each Amex card you have, including Bluebird and Serve. Not bad!
  • If you have the FlexPerks card, click here to see your promos. I got an easy 1,000 points by signing up for Visa Checkout and 3,000 more for doing some spending.
  • An easy 500 Starwood points for registering and then logging in to to your SPG account, going to your “My Profile” page, and updating your stay preferences.
  • Military veterans might be able to get 100,000 Hilton points a year.
  • Every stay in a St. Regis hotel makes me wonder if there’s anything better. But you definitely pay the price for that luxury. This is a good promo only for big spenders. The second night in some suites can be had for just $4.
  • Chase is getting on my nerves. Take a look at the new Ultimate Rewards page and read some of the new terms. Maybe they’re cracking down on “buddy” point transfers or maybe they’re all bark. Either way, it’s annoying.

Trying For 75,000

Confused? I’m referring to 75,000 points instead of the 50,000 from yesterday’s original post. If you missed it, there were some good tricks at the link in the edit. Personally, the main thing I’m seeing with this card offer is randomness. I pasted the American Express link on a laptop, iPhone, and iPad. The results? I got different offers on each device! So weird…25,000 on one, 50,000 on the other, and 75,000 on the iPad. If you want the big offer, I’d keep playing around with this one. Also, this is not an Amex Personal card, so their once-in-a-lifetime-rule doesn’t apply. You should be ok as long as you haven’t had the card in the last 12 months.

Amex Business Gold Back Again

The American Express Business Gold Rewards card usually has a 50,000-point bonus. Except when it doesn’t. This dance happens a lot. Well, the bonus is back. 50,000 points for spending $5,000 in 3 months. As always, read the terms about having the card in the past. Some of you are getting MUCH bigger bonuses in your mailbox so make sure you read those targeted offers.

From Peter:

Thanks for posting the 50,000 offer on your site.  Just an FYI, these tend to pop up in May and November.  November tends to be 50k for $5k spend, in May it tends to be 75k for $10k spend, in 2013 it was 75k for $5k spend.  You may want to tell your readers to sign up, but close it within 3 or 4 months, and then a year later open it again — per T&C, you need to wait 12 months.  So Nov sign up, close by March, open 14 months later in May, close by Sept, open 14 months later in November.

It r may sound a bit complex, but ultimately you end up picking up couple of bonuses every 3 years — if the pattern holds.  I been doing this one since 2009, based on my EXCEL history, it has been the same pattern for 5 years now.
Cheers,
Peter

There is a way to make the 75k offer appear. Use a chrome browser on smartphone
