Hawaiian Summer Vacation

My current top-5 favorite places in America are:

  1. Hawaii (specifically, Maui) –  I finally understand why someone would want to “sit and watch the world go by.” It never made sense to me before. And then I saw Maui for the first time.
  2. New Orleans – There’s nothing like it in America. You literally hear music in the air, even when it’s not actually playing. One problem…if I lived in NOLA, I’d weigh 350 pounds. The food is that good.
  3. Lake Tahoe – The word “lake” doesn’t really do it justice. It is basically an ocean surrounded by awesomeness.
  4. Austin – How can you not love a city that takes pride in being weird.
  5. Southern Californa (non-LA) – I always tell people that most of southern Californa is incredible. From San Diego to Santa Barbara, there are so many amazing little beach towns. And then there’s the traffic jam known as Los Angeles.

The gap between Number 1 and the rest of the list is huge. I love all the cities, but literally spend time every week daydreaming about Maui. Today, I looked and saw the following “saver” availability on the American Airlines website for July. Look at all that beautiful green! As always, flying to Hawaii is an incredible use of British Airways Avios from the west coast. Round-trip from LAX for 25,000 points is hard to beat. Looks like I’ll get to see all 5 of my favorite American places this year!
