Fruits Of Our Labor

I’ve been told that I need to show some of the ways I use my miles. I guess people do need some extra motivation when this starts to feel like a grind. Ok, I hear you. I just booked the following:

  • 2 flights from LA to Maui.
(This cost 50,000 British Airways miles and the flights will be on American Airlines)
  • 7 nights at the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui.
(This is a Waldorf Astoria hotel and it cost just over 450,000 Hilton Honors points)
So, how was this possible?
I’ve described a few times how easy it is to accumulate Hilton points. Paying cash, the Grand Wailea would cost me almost $600 per night. And British Airways miles are PERFECT for short flights like this one. Many of you got the 100,000 British card bonus last year. Others have a big pile of Membership Rewards points that will transfer to British miles.
This really wasn’t that hard to do. Especially when you look at the alternative (paying for vacations). I just priced out this trip and it would have cost me $8,730 without the miles and points! And that’s why we do what we do.
