Monday Stuff

  • Nerds with Inks can add to their impressive 2017 stash at Staples in-store through Saturday. Buy $300 or more in Visa gift cards and get $20 back. As usual with Staples, this is “technically” one per household.
  • Get 15% cash back from over 200 stores through Ebates this week. A few more are listed at 30%.
  • An interesting promo through June 15th from the artist formerly known as American Airlines. Transactions with 4 partners can earn you up to 10,000 miles. If you do it, make sure to read the terms for minimum spend amounts.
  • For the second straight year, I’ve been unimpressed with the options from Daily Getaways. The “deals” over there make me sleepy (and slightly cranky). But the final 3 days will finally get a little interesting. Worth taking a few seconds to see if any of these are worth waking up for.

Discover Promo Randomness

Remember that Discover promo (the one way back in September 2015)?

It was crazy from Day 1.

Were they really just going to hand out thousands of dollars to each of us?

As it turned out…

Yeah.

So, cutting to last night:

Out of nowhere, over a year later…this crazy-ass promo somehow got weirder.

The emails to many of us said:

“Based on an internal review, we decided to award you additional Cashback.”

Seriously?

But you already confused us (and handed us money) before…

Being nosy, I decided not to wait for the statement.

I picked up the phone and asked how much I was getting…

A very sweet supervisor cheerfully said I can expect $318.28.

Very odd.

This mysterious promo confused me in 2015 and I sure don’t get it now.

But, hey…weird, random, surprising, odd stuff makes this game fun.

Chase Card Stuff

A few readers have reached out about increased offers in-branch at Chase this week. I don’t know how targeted those are, but if you have a branch nearby, it might be worth a trip. Probably best to do it today or Friday. The lucky ones are seeing 100,000 points for the Ink Business Preferred. Also, if you have any Ink card right now, you probably got an email to refer friends for 20,000 points each. If not, you can generate the page here and pick up some easy points that way.

Airbnb Question

I know a lot of people enjoy when I “go off” on someone. To be honest, it isn’t something I get much pleasure from. That being said, there’s always a good reason for me to let it rip. And, right now, I’m on the verge of writing a series of posts…to say I’m pissed off would be a huge understatement. But I do want to give Airbnb one last chance to respond.
