Check Your Starwood Offer

Take 5 or 10 seconds and check if you’re targeted for this one from Starwood. A few different offers might pop up (or nada like I got).

Some Delta Stuff

Thanks to reader Ali for sending a couple of Delta deals…

  • Book an Airbnb here by the end of April and get 3 SkyMiles per dollar spent. If you’re new to Airbnb, they’ll throw in 2,000 miles for your first stay.
  • It’s a little weird but, according to Ali, you can replace all the 7’s in this link with your SkyMiles number. I’d take a screenshot because that appears to target you for…something. A little bit of a puzzle but it seems to be 1,000 bonus miles for every non-airline Delta partner you earn miles with through April 30th. Could you double that? Who knows, but it doesn’t take long to register for this stuff.

New App For Short Stays

A few days ago, reader Josh sent me a new app called As You Stay. Interesting option for people (like us) who get stuck on long layovers and aren’t in a city for a full day. The idea is you can get discount on hotel stays based on how many hours you’re there. Only in a handful of places so far, but should expand pretty soon. The download link with a $25 credit is in the sidebar. I’ve added a couple of other sites with credits there in recent months like Turo. That one is a way to rent out your personal car or use someone else’s. It can be a good option if you’re looking for a nice ride on a special occasion. A few readers (much smarter than me) actually make a good chunk of change there by renting out small fleets of cars they lease.

Uber Flat Fare For February

These were VERY popular before, so we’ll see if there’s still as much interest after the controversial week for Uber…

Get a flat rate for 30 days ($2.99 Pool or $5.99 UberX) in New York. The upfront cost to do it is 10 bucks (20 rides) or 20 bucks (40 rides). Since it’s working in NYC, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll get an offer again in LA, DC, San Diego, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and  Miami.

Reader Gary was impacted by a video…he asked that I share it with you. I just saw the title (The Value of Travel) and it got me thinking…

Living in Los Angeles can feel like an isolated bubble. Almost like being on a landlocked island away from everybody else. For some reason, in the last few days, I kept thinking back to my upbringing in West Virginia. Most of my childhood friends had never even been on an airplane. Some had never driven past Pittsburgh. Yet another bubble.

My point is this…

When you feel bored by the routine grind of hustling miles and points…look around. Really observe the small-mindedness that grows in people who never go anywhere. That could have easily been us.

Traveling is one of the most important things we’ll do with our short time on this planet. Because of it, we have a chance to escape the jail of our tiny thoughts and limited experience. We walk into brand new worlds.  We see different ways of life.  It expands our minds and opens our hearts.

Have a great weekend, nerds!

Hilton Triple

The properties aren’t what they used to be, their loyalty program is a shell of its former self, and Paris would rather be a Kardashian.

But, hey, the last 24 hours have been interesting…

  • Status match here and you’ll have it for 90 days. A few stays will extend your status through March 2019.
  • Register here for 2,000 points per night.
  • Hilton Honors is changing. Rocket science this is not. Think about how often loyalty programs have changed in recent years. Now calculate how many times that was good for us. If you’re still not sure, check out Hilton’s history of devaluations.
