The Top 25 Credit Cards
(If you see any errors or missing cards, please let me know. I try to keep a full list, but it’s a lot of information and I do make mistakes).
Significant Changes Since Last Month:
-American Express Gold Ameriprise card added.
-Flexperks Olympic promo this month.
-Prestige bonus lowered.
-Link for Amex SimplyCash Plus.
Time for the monthly edition of my Top 25 Credit Cards. I call it “Top 25” out of tradition, but you get a lot more links than that below. Again, if you’re a rookie, make sure you read The Newbie Guide. It’s a little outdated but many of your questions can still be answered there. Basic things like not applying for 3 Chase cards at the same time should be known before you continue. For people running out of cards, remember there’s often a Business card option. I listed a few here but not many, so it might be worth exploring more Business cards. Also, “churning” might be an option. The dates here were a guideline but things always tend to vary individually.
August AwardWallet Codes
Here are this month’s 50 free AwardWallet codes for you quick clickers. Log into your account, click on your name, and select “Upgrade Using A Coupon” to apply a code. This will upgrade your account for 6 months (even existing users). Please only take 1 of these each. I’ll try to edit the post in the morning. If you’re new, AwardWallet is a must for tracking all your accounts, balances, user names, passwords, and expiration dates.

Easy Hertz President’s Circle For Some
I appreciate reader Rob sending this one. For all who have an Amex Platinum card, you should have already gotten status with hotels like Starwood, Fairmont, and Accor. Well, apparently now you can take that Accor status to Hertz and be a part of their impressive President’s Circle. One catch – I clicked the link and didn’t see the United States as a country choice. So this might take a little creativity. If you figure it out, please let me know and I can edit the post.
Also, thanks for the crazy amount of messages lately. I know how it goes when I write a post like yesterday (I tend to hear a ton of support from you guys). For all who asked me about the names and user names…do you honestly think I know who the Twitter/Reddit crowd are? At this point, I barely name bloggers. Except, of course, my favorite punching bag – Bozo The Bow Tie. Anyway, I think the post was pretty clear. I shared some of the things that were told to me by a very knowledgeable source. These factors “increased the volume” and were a big part of a chain reaction that “helped” kill big opportunities for everyone. If you know the individuals based on any of the specific immaturity referenced in that post, you know a lot more about them than I do.
Finally, thanks again to all of you who entered the gift card contest a couple days ago. The winner has been notified and is very excited. A couple thousand emailed entries came through in those 24 hours. Not to sound like a cornball, but I feel genuinely stressed that only one person gets to win. I’m a gambler by nature so I love seeing people take a shot. Really wish I had more to give but this is the most broke-ass blog around. Anyway, there’s still a couple of big prizes left so you’ll get another shot soon. Have a great weekend, nerds!
Sometimes Better To Listen Than Talk
I don’t feel like going on a long rant about this. Frankly, I’m saving up for a big one. So I’ll just write a quick note to get something off my chest…
I can’t believe how little common sense some of you people in this game have. It truly is hard to grasp. I spoke to someone who works in a position of power at one of the companies that has been very helpful to us. He verified that the death of our best deal in the last few years (the deal in which letters went out recently)…can be traced directly back to your actions. To be specific, your arrogant online presence.
I don’t know if it’s youth, inexperience, or ego…maybe it’s all of that. Do you realize you have the power to blow a special thing for all of us? Maybe not. The only other possibility is that you truly don’t give a shit.
When I tried to figure it out today, I couldn’t come up with that answer. Here’s the thing…
For the most part, I stopped reading other blogs a long time ago (for reasons that should be very clear by now). And I can’t even remember what year I last logged into Flyertalk. Obviously, everyone knows I don’t do social media. So, at this point, I’m out of any loop that includes careless people. In fact, I don’t even know how many of your kind are out there now. It sounds like a lot. So if you’re one of the people who like to brag about fragile loopholes that are obviously not supposed to be exploited…
…saying specifically how much you’re taking a bank for…
…naming that bank…
…publicly laughing in their faces to delight your minions…
Then you were directly responsible for the death of our best deal in years. I know this for an absolute fact. Your very specific naming, pointing, and taunting of a multi-billion dollar corporation is what killed it for everyone. There was a chain reaction and it started with you.
This week, to learn more about the state of newbies…I tried to spend an hour on Reddit for the first time in my life. I had to stop because brain cells were being lost quickly. I was seeing incredible amounts of ignorance. No idea about who the players are in this game, what the history of this is, or how big the deals have gotten. You think you know but I can assure you that you don’t.
(Oh, by the way, fuck you for making me sound like an old guy talking about back in his day)
Why not see the impact you’re having in your day? Here’s a clue – you’re causing damage to the people around you. But I doubt you see that. Shit, at this rate, why not just put on a bow tie and glasses and pretend you’re about helping people.
Apparently, one of you even did some sort of online play-by-play when confronted by law enforcement after buying money orders. I’m telling you for a fact – these kinds of things do not go unnoticed. They are reckless and destructive. But I get it. You don’t care.
Listen, I’ve spent too much hours in my life trying to talk to people who don’t get it. And I know you’re not going to get it now. I doubt you ever will.
So, for everyone else out there, just be very clear that these kinds of people have done you a disservice. In a huge way. So don’t praise them. Don’t compliment their careless behavior. It’s your job to know better.
