  • Here’s a 50,000-mile United Business card link. Great deal!
  • Expedia is taking $100 off a 3-night stay, $150 off a 4-night stay, or $200 off a 5-night stay. Coupon codes in order are: DISCVR105, DISCVR151, and DISCVR201.
  • Trying to get your freak on for Valentine’s Day weekend? Be a cheap freak and get 10% off from Hotel Tonight with code LOVE.

  • Get your Chinese 10-year visa for 50% off:

The Chinese government increased their visa validity from 1 year to a decade. So if you’re an American citizen traveling to China, you can enter multiple times over the course of 10 years. Yesterday, I got a strong offer from my buddies at Allied Passport & Visa. They know I never look for their money, so they agreed to cut their fee by 50% for you guys. Any MileNerd reader applying for a Chinese 10-year visa gets the 50% discount by doing the following:

  • Ship your documents using FedEx before April 4th, 2015.
  • Follow directions on their website.
  • Mention “MileNerd” on your order form.
  • For China, the embassy cost is $140 + the half of Allied’s normal service fee + return shipping.

Miles For Eating

Once or twice a year, I like to post reminders about this. It’s such an easy way to grab a few extra miles. If you can remember to enter your cards in and eat at participating restaurants…that’s about all there is to do here.

Get 3,000 United, 2,500 Delta, and 2,000 American (or US Airways) miles for signing up for dining rewards and eating your first meal.

Get ’em for joining Alitalia’s mileage program here.

Have a great weekend, nerds!

Or don’t.

Doesn’t affect me much either way.

But someone out there had the worst day of their life today and would do anything to trade places with you.

(Just thought you should feel more guilty about your bad attitude)

MileNerd out.

10 Free Rides From Lyft

I’m normally an Uber guy, but damn this is a lot of free trips!

If you’re new to Lyft in New York, Chicago, Boston, Denver, or DC…reader Mike says this link gives you 10 free rides (up to $20 each) with code 10RIDES.

If you’re in Philadelphia, apparently this one gives 20 free rides with code PHILLY. It might say $20 rather than 10 or 20 rides, but Mike tells me these work and he comes through for us all the time.

Again, I’m a Lyft novice, but was told code GOPATRIOTS is also good for 10 rides. I don’t know if that’s limited to any city.

Not sure how long these will last, but hopefully you’ll jump on it and they’ll work for you!

Edit: Courtesy of HoKo –

“FYI, just signed up using that link and the 10 free rides expire on Feb.14. Might wanna add a disclaimer to the post.”

Wednesday’s Deals

  • Google Earth Pro (usually 400 bucks) is now free. Obviously, this is useful for most of us travel nerds.
  • We are now able to redeem US Air miles for American flights and vice versa. You can also log into either account and set your miles up to combine (will take effect soon).
  • Capital One is giving 100,000 miles for loans (new or refinance). As with all home loans, shop around and try to play them against each other for the best rate.
  • Some people (mostly Hilton Diamonds) might pick up 100,000 points here. I’m not one of them.
