- Delta’s dining bonus for new members is up to 2,500 miles. I still prefer the 2,000 miles from American or US Air.
- 100 free miles from BWI airport. Pick United, American, or pretty much any other airline.
- Pick up Avis First status with a Mastercard. Also grab National Executive Elite status here.
- Semi-fun game from United for you contest nerds here.
Shopping For Points
For those ok with buying miles/points, there are a few promos right now:
- Hyatt – Up to 40% bonus if Platinum/Diamond members (if you have a Hyatt credit card, you should have Platinum status).
- US Airways – Targeted offer for 100% bonus on purchased miles.
- British Airways – Up to 30% bonus on purchased points.
- Citi Thank You – Pay 2.5 cents per point.
I put these in order from best to worst. As always, they are most useful if you have a specific trip in mind and are short of your goal. Personally, I’m still passing on all of them. Stubborn mules like me don’t like paying for points. It ruins the fun.
Asiana Card
Some of you are GIGANTIC fans of Bank of America. With the number of Alaska/Virgin cards you crazy kids get, it’s hard to blame you. If you’re looking for a change of pace from B of A, here’s the Asiana card. It’s 25,000 miles after spending $2,500 in 90 days. My thoughts? It’s fine. I’d stick with Alaska and/or Virgin over this one, though.
Why Singapore Miles?
I don’t do it often, but 3 or 4 times a year I link to another site and say, “He wrote it perfectly.” Today is one of those moments. Thanks to reader Jack for letting me know. Even if you’re only traveling domestically, you really need to know about Singapore miles. They are very, very valuable right now. Chase, Amex, Citi ThankYou, and Starwood are all transfer partners. As always, any miles can be devalued overnight, so transfer your points over only when you have a booking to make. Read the very well-written post here.
