Might Be Time For Rocketmiles

I’ve gone back and forth like a schizophrenic person about Rocketmiles. I posted about their rooms being too expensive, the miles being too few, and later shared a conversation that started to change my opinion. Through it all, there has been one consistent thing – the fact that I’ve never paid them a cent. Well, my friends, it looks like that’s about to change. I’ve seen 2 promos recently that made me hesitate clicking “delete.” The first was an email for 5,000 bonus miles for a first booking. I would have done it, but didn’t need to pay for a hotel at the time. Yesterday, I got another email…this was for 3,000 miles on a first booking. Again, it’s pretty tempting. Rocketmiles is really trying to get new customers, and dammit, I think it’s working. With the extra bonuses, they’ve finally won me over. No mas. I’m dizzy from all this mind-changing.

(And yes, I totally jinxed things with yesterday’s post).

A Three-Heat?

I’d like to interrupt the mile/point talk for a second. For those who don’t know me outside of this blog, I’m a guy who likes weirdness and creativity. Because of this, I tend to come up with strange/possibly interesting ideas all the time. Surprisingly, one of my most random ones has gotten some attention. From the ESPN article (see right sidebar) to the many recent media requests (including one from the Wall Street Journal)…my trademark of Three-Heat has been well-documented. The Miami Heat are 3 wins away from history, so this has been a busy time for the phrase. I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the support. It’s SUCH a random thing I didn’t expect anything out of…so it’s all gravy. I’ve enjoyed the conversations, the new friendships, and all of the support. That’s the best thing that will ever come out of Three-Heat. no matter what. Thank you again for your support!

Free Ritz Carlton Night

I always get questions about Ritz Carlton deals. ALWAYS. Everyone loves fancy hotels, so this isn’t much of a surprise. There are Marriott and Ritz  card options but that’s usually it. Let’s face it, most Ritz Carlton “sales” are pretty terrible. Their promo right now is an exception. Basically, you can get a free night after 2 stays. As always, the best way to play it is by staying at 2 “cheap” Ritz hotels and using the free night at a pricey one. If you already have one stay planned, the second should be a no-brainer.

Sixt Car Rental Discount

It’s been a funny few days here at the MileNerd blog. In fact, let’s call it “relationship week.” My relationship got worse with Uber, but stayed strong with Allied Passport & Visa. And today, something brand new started to grow. I heard from Matt at Sixt. He asked if I could share their rental partner information here. I’ve never rented with Sixt, but a good friend swears by them. Their partners include a bunch of airlines, so there are different ways to earn miles on your rentals. As always, I try to look out for you guys at those moments, so I’m happy to share a custom 10% off link here. Thanks Matt!
