2 Offers & A Rocketmiles Follow-Up

Me and quite a few others got an offer for a tempting 100% bonus on purchased US Airways miles. Something to consider. Also, everyone has the option to get a solid bonus on purchased Starwood points. These SPG points suddenly look more interesting than their Ultimate Rewards counterparts since the United suckage announcement.

Now, on to Rocketmiles. A reader sent me a long email, mainly complaining that Rocketmiles’ prices are too high. And you know what, I totally agree. If you’re reading this, Rocketmiles, and I know you are…it’s time to start lowering these hotel room rates. You’re good, honest people and I know you’re just trying to run a business…but your prices are a little steep. In my opinion, it’s important to get more competitive in this area if you really want to take your business to the next level.

What can I say? I keep it real. Oh yeah, I also keep it stupid. My post for the promo yesterday was super unclear. I made it sound like it was a one-hour promo rather than all-day. Sorry for that. Onwards and upwards!

5,000 Bonus Miles

I love what I love. But then again, I also hate what I hate. I tend to be unapologetic with both praise and criticism. Without a doubt, one of my unapologetic loves is Rocketmiles. I trust the people and the product keeps getting better with time. No, I don’t post all of their deals, as they have quite a few promotions and I try to focus on the best stuff. Well, today is the best one they’ve ever had and I’ll be taking advantage of it myself. This morning, between 9:00 and 10:00 EST, you’ll get 5,000 bonus miles on any hotel booking as long as you check out by the end of 2013. I’m not supposed to share the link until 9:00 EST, so it will be here then.

Monday Triple

I’d like to get this week started by uttering the familiar phrase, “United sucks.” I think this could be historic. Finally, I said something we can all agree on.

  • Pick up 18 American miles per dollar spent (18x) at Neiman Marcus through the American Airlines shopping portal. Another 5x if you use a Chase Freedom card.
  • The 100,000-point British Airways credit card is back if you don’t mind gigantic minimum spends.
  • I just got 50% off of my Hertz car rental using PC code 194426. The code will expire at the end of the day.

2 Great New Hyatt Options

This post went up just after midnight Pacific time. Until a couple minutes ago, there has always been a fun debate about what to do with Ultimate Rewards points. As you know, there are plenty of UR points to be had. Between the Chase Ink and Sapphire cards., these have been super valuable and the debate was always about transferring to United or Hyatt.
Well, a lot of people just jumped on the Hyatt bandwagon. United has decided to take an unapologetic shit on their customers and issue of the worst devaluations you’ll ever see. You can read people losing their minds on Flyertalk here. This blatant fecal release takes effect February 1st. As always, I recommend making your voice heard. Really let United know how you feel about this and don’t hold back.
Ironically, Hyatt just revealed 2 awesome new options. Los Cabos and Cancun are Hyatt’s entry into the world of all-inclusive hotels. They cost a fair 20,000 and 25,000 points, respectively. These both look great, and there is no more debate for me. Hyatt wins by knockout.
