2 Great New Hyatt Options

This post went up just after midnight Pacific time. Until a couple minutes ago, there has always been a fun debate about what to do with Ultimate Rewards points. As you know, there are plenty of UR points to be had. Between the Chase Ink and Sapphire cards., these have been super valuable and the debate was always about transferring to United or Hyatt.
Well, a lot of people just jumped on the Hyatt bandwagon. United has decided to take an unapologetic shit on their customers and issue of the worst devaluations you’ll ever see. You can read people losing their minds on Flyertalk here. This blatant fecal release takes effect February 1st. As always, I recommend making your voice heard. Really let United know how you feel about this and don’t hold back.
Ironically, Hyatt just revealed 2 awesome new options. Los Cabos and Cancun are Hyatt’s entry into the world of all-inclusive hotels. They cost a fair 20,000 and 25,000 points, respectively. These both look great, and there is no more debate for me. Hyatt wins by knockout.

Hotel Thursday

  • For people who like to save (which is all of us), these are 2 important links in the world of hotels. SPG’s Hot Escapes and definitely IHG’s latest PointBreaks list.
  • I’m not a Radisson guy, but you can save 35% here.
  • Marriott wants to give you a bed here.
  • Shockingly, it turns out I don’t know everything. I actually learned something new about unwanted Priceline wins by reading this blog.

Midweek Triple

  • Starwood’s Pay Your Birth Year is back. This one always makes me smile for some reason (nerd alert). Fun promotion!
  • 1,200 Shangri-La points courtesy of Loyalty Lobby.
  • Last day (for now) to get the 50,000 mile Southwest card offers. These usually come back within a few months, but you domestic travelers should be working on your Companion Pass if you don’t have one already.

Freebies I Forgot

A few decent freebies I “forgot” to post. I put “forgot” in quotes because I’m actually just old.

  • 5,000 free miles for joining Alitalia’s program. Do this in the next couple days before it ends.
  • 500 free United miles for getting an insurance quote
  • Free Southwest points for booking hotel stays.

Uber Free $25

For new members only. Download the Uber app and use code SB25. If you’re stuck in 1998 and have a phone without apps, you can also sign up here. As most of you know, I’m a giant fan of Uber as a car service. If I had my way, I’d never sit in another taxi again. Free money is free money, and this is much better than the usual $10 sign-up bonuses.
