- If you have some SkyDongs and are going to Asia, this might be for you.
- Pick up 1,750 United miles for joining MyPoints and spending $50.
- A Southwest sale? Wow, what’s next? Caller ID? Blockbuster Video stores closing?
- Speaking of not shocking…here’s another one from Frontier.
- Grab 10 American miles per dollar spent at IHG hotels.
- For you train nerds, here’s an Amtrak sale in the northeast.
Status Match
What are some activities I find more enjoyable than writing back-to-back Choice hotel posts?
- Burning the roof of my mouth on a Hot Pocket.
- Standing in line at the DMV on a mid-July day.
- Assembling an Ikea dresser for an hour and realizing I don’t have the last piece.
You get the idea.
But thanks to reader Chris having the nerve to be helpful, here’s a status match page for Choice.
(pretty damn good chance I never write another post about this brand again)
Choice Discount
I’m rarely a fan of buying points and don’t post these (for the most part), but…
A bunch of readers mentioned finding good value from this last time. So, in spite of my “policy” on the matter…here it is. Get Choice hotel points for 30% off through August 10th. The lack of blackout dates is part of the attractiveness for some. But the value of the points (particularly for people who travel internationally) is the main factor. Choice properties in Europe tend to be very different than the ones here.
I have now reached the limit of words I’m willing to give Choice today.
End Of Week Pair
Some very good international flight deals from Singapore Airlines if you’re heading to Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Frankfurt.
Also available is the newest DDD if you want to save some miles. Fyi, that was supposed to be a clever abbreviation for “Delta Dong Deal.” Sadly, I now realize how much it sounds like a Guy Fieri show. This is deeply troubling. Obviously, I’m left with no choice but to take a scalding hot shower and then destroy my laptop.
Have a great weekend, nerds!
Arrival Card
The Barclays Arrival card has an all-time high bonus of 60,000 points. That’s great…but the real question is if you’ll actually be approved for it. Personally, I haven’t heard “yes” on a Barclays card all year (and this is the toughest one to get). Up to you, but as a friendly warning based on reader feedback:
If you’ve gotten more than 5 or 6 credit cards in the last 24 months…this one is probably going to be a challenge.
