Midweek Flight Deals

  • Use fewer SkyDongs to Alaska or Hawaii here.
  • Air Asia is offering some impressive $4 flights on their extremely unimpressive website.
  • Speaking of unimpressive, today is the last day for 90% off from Frontier.

British Airways Events

Reader Joan saw the Wyndham post yesterday and reminded me that the “Above and Beyond” Space Shuttle dinner is coming up in LA. Personally, I’m not much of a space geek so I’ll skip it. But I am a legendary fat-ass, so I’d definitely go to the Chicago option if I lived there. Really, if you have British Avios points to burn and live in Los Angeles, NYC, or Chicago…take a look at that page. It’s going to run 20,000 points for you and a guest. All three are pretty decent choices, in my opinion.

Auction Value

I posted about Wyndham’s new auctions a few weeks ago.

Nobody accumulates this currency. At least that’s what it seems like from the strange lack of bidding.
(Of course I’m exaggerating when I say “nobody,” but I was literally the only bidder for this item). So how far did my 50,000-point bid go?

The suite for 2 nights would have cost $1,200. And the private dinner with chef Nobu at his restaurant would have cost $1,030 per couple. Was it worth burning 50,000 points for that?

Hell yeah.

The suite was VERY nice. That 3-hour dinner could easily be the best I’ll ever have. And my host at Caesars Palace (Ricky London) really went out of his way to make the stay special.  Just an incredible weekend in Vegas. I’d highly recommend keeping an eye on the Wyndham auction page if you have some points. Not sure how long it’ll be until the prices start going up with more bidders. But there are bargains to be had right now.

Equifax Sucks At Apologies

The Equifax data breach is a total shitfest. These are truly exceptional morons to mess things up to this degree…

  1. It was a security clown show on their end. Really, really basic screwup.
  2. They knew a month ago and waited this long to give the details to the people impacted (that’s us).
  3. It looks like some of their shady-ass executives were dumping stock in the meantime.
  4. Their website to “help” looks like it was designed by the slowest kid in fifth grade.
  5. It doesn’t even tell you if were impacted for sure.
  6. It won’t let you enroll for any help and they won’t send a reminder when that’s ready.

Considering this will impact over 100 million of us, you’re probably screwed on this one. You can check here or get more information here. Read the vague and annoying terms because you might waive your class action rights if you sign up for their TrustedID service.

Marriott Promo

Marriott deals are usually as exciting as an afternoon trip to the DMV, but this one is actually pretty good. Register to get a free night (up to category 5) for completing two stays before January 15th. While you’re at it, you might as well register for this not-as-good promo from Starwood too. Good for a few extra points per stay.
