Travel Hosts

I recently posted about a new travel show looking for a host. From what I heard (which may or may not be accurate), they ended up going with a “name.” It happens. Anyway, I have another one to pass on but wanted to make a few basic points first:

  • I have nothing to do with the show.
  • I have no information other than what I’m posting below.
  • Getting a TV gig isn’t the easiest thing in the world. If you put yourself out there and don’t get the job, please take it easy on yourself.

That said, if this sounds like fun to you, why not give it a shot? Feel free to mention you heard about it on MileNerd. And maybe write a quick introduction with a picture. Here’s what I know…

Jessica Winton from Watercooler Casting is looking for the following:

Casting a new travel and lifestyle show looking for three hosts.

Synopsis: In each episode, these three hosts will travel to a new destination, and all will experience the destination on a different budgets. One person will be showing viewers the way to travel on a limited budget, while one enjoys a mid-range experience, while the third travels in the lap of luxury.

Casting director states: “The three people we are casting must have a pre-existing relationship, and a fun dynamic. We are looking for all different kinds of family and friend dynamics, and experienced travelers.”

Some Card Stuff

A few credit card updates from the last couple of days:

  • Last Friday, I mentioned the new Delta Gold offer comes with a $50 credit. But reader Sumita shared a better option. Start a booking on Delta.com and a an offer with a $100 credit should pop up on the payment page.
  • Amex put a new card out – the Blue Business Plus. Definitely worth looking at. The bonus is 20,000 points and you get 2x points on everything up to $50,000 per year. No annual fee on this one.
  • It’s not often I post about UBS Bank. But their Visa Infinite card will be available starting tomorrow. Assuming this is 50,000 points, it’s an option to consider. But, looking ahead, this isn’t a keeper with a $495 annual fee. The $250 airline credit will help, but I can’t think of a reason to have the card for longer than a year.

Have a great weekend, nerds!

Points For Sports

Thanks to reader “Hardball Trout” for sharing a new SPG batch of baseball options. These are very cool if you’re a sports nerd with Starwood points. Things like singing the anthem or letting your kid deliver the lineup card can be fun to bid on. Auction haters don’t have to mess with bidding…there are also fixed price choices like box seats and luxury suites. This isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve got the points, it’s rare to find non-travel redemption options worth looking at.

5,000+ Car Rental Miles

A few of you guys shared various emailed offers from Hertz and United. If you got one for over 5,000 miles, that’s obviously a pretty strong deal for a rental (using codes CDP 62455 and PC 305023). Make sure you look at your United/Hertz email from the last couple of days to see if you got one of the good ones. Reader Hope also shared a fun example of how far some of these things can be pushed. It’s also a nice reminder of how nuts we all are.
