A Month Later

Last month, I talked about my conversation with Jay from Rocketmiles. As you all know, I have a good feel for douchebaggery. I detected none of it with him. Just a really impressive guy, and I predicted Rocketmiles was going places. Well, a month later, they’re becoming a force to be reckoned with. Today I saw some big news of growth on their Facebook page here.

In my not-so-humble opinion, if you’re paying for a hotel room, you might as well get some miles out of it. So for those who haven’t checked it out, give Rocketmiles a look. I’m a huge fan of these guys and give them my full support. I hope you will too!

Reconsideration Phone Numbers

It might not be today, but this post should be helpful to you at some point in the future. As we know, credit cards provide a nice chunk of our miles and points. For those of us who don’t fly constantly, we depend on these bonuses to build up our balances. But things do get hairy sometimes in this game. Even with my 750+ credit score, I see my share of rejection letters. Most of these rejections “magically” turn into approvals after dealing with reconsideration departments. Don’t be shy. Don’t be lazy. If you get rejected, pick up the phone. I sometimes have to close an old account or move credit lines around, but these people are usually very helpful and open to my suggestions. When I want to turn a “no” into a “yes,” here are the phone numbers to use:

Amex

Bank Of America

Barclays

Tennis Fans Rejoice

I’m a tennis lover. And I have a lot of Starwood points. That makes this very intriguing. Starwood has some of the best and most flexible points around, and always comes up with these fun options like going to see the U.S. Open. I’m keeping my eye on this and also entered to win a trip. Non-tennis fans might like some of the other redemption options.
