The Top 25 Credit Cards

(If you see any errors, please let me know. I try to keep a full list, but it’s a lot of information and I do make mistakes)

Significant Changes Since Last Month:
-Hilton Surpass card is up to 100,000 points + a free weekend night.
-Wyndham bonus way down for now. Should be back to 45,000 soon.
-Cathay Pacific bonus up to 50,000.
-JetBlue increased to 40,000.
-Southwest cards all back to 60,000.
-The American Airlines card from Barclays is up to 60,000 points.
-Slight drop for the American cards from Citibank from 60,000 to 50,000.

Before Playing This Game:
-Find a new hobby until you can pay off all balances each month.
-Take 5 seconds to confirm a bonus is what you expect.
-Get a screenshot of the bonus in case you have issues collecting it later.
-Take 2 minutes to read the small print before applying.
(Look for “once in a lifetime,” “no bonus for cardholders in last 24 months,” etc.)
-Keep everything very organized in a spreadsheet. You’ll thank me later.

Time for my monthly Top 25 Credit Cards. It’s called “Top 25” out of tradition, but you’ll get many more links than that below. Again, if you’re a rookie, make sure you read The Newbie Guide. It’s a little outdated but many basic questions can still be answered there. For people running out of cards, remember there’s often a Business card option. Also, “churning” (getting the same card more than once) might be an option. The dates here were a guideline but things always tend to vary individually. If you’re new, it might be wise to start with Chase cards because of the limitations they’ll place on you soon.

Miles and points are far from an equal currency. 50,000 Delta SkyMiles are worth less to me than that amount from Alaska Airlines. 25,000 Hyatt points mean way more than the same number from Hilton. And so on. These links work right now (September 1st at midnight). If you read this later, many of the offers will have changed. Things move fast so read offer details and terms before applying. Especially all that small print when you’re trying to get bonuses more than once on the same card. Ok, enough chatter…here we go! My “Top 25” current credit cards are below.

Frontier 90% Florida Sale Today

Frontier Airlines really annoys me.

Certain people/things/companies just have that effect (see: Ashton Kutcher).

But this sale will probably be a great deal for some people, so I have to post it.

Damn, I hate writing about Frontier.

Airbnb Through 9/25

Some Texans aren’t charging anything for Airbnb stays right now. And Airbnb isn’t going to charge any service fees (through September 25th) to the people who need help.

Tuesday Triple

  • Anyone interested in making a hurricane donation can get 5 or 10 miles per dollar for it here.
  • The American Airlines card from Barclays is a pretty strong low-spend option right now. Up to 60,000 miles for spending a buck. Worth considering if you’ve only had American cards from Citibank in the past.
  • Have a Hyatt card? Definitely spend a few seconds to register for a faster path to status. Great deal if you have a few more hotel nights coming before the end of the year.

Good Mosaic Benefit

Many of you got matched to JetBlue’s Mosaic status for the rest of the year. I’ve taken some flights with it and, overall, it’s nothing spectacular. But there is one benefit I’m finding extremely helpful (other than the free booze)…

The prices Mosaic members get charged for “Even More Space” point upgrades are amazing. At minimum, I’m seeing 5 cents per point in value. Not easy to get that with any airline. If you have this status for the rest of 2017, I’d at least take a look at upgrading seats on every JetBlue flight.
