Thanks to reader David for pointing out some good stuff with SPG Moments right now. For you guys with kids who love baseball, this one is pretty damn cool. Taking the field with the Cubs would make most grown men in Chicago giddy, let alone the kids who have a chance to do this for under 30,000 points. If you have some Starwood points to spare, it’s a good idea to browse through the Moments page every once in a while. I tend to find more value with the fixed price options than the auctions.
National 2 Day Rental
Again, thanks to the amazing response from you guys in May, I’ve got more good stuff to give away…
I’m trying to space these out the best I can. Last month, it was 13 United Club passes. Today, it’s 2 free rental codes from National. Huge thanks to long-time reader Ashok for being so generous. Really cool of you. Here’s the deal:
- One person will win both codes (perfect to use on a free rental for a weekend getaway).
- These expire 12/31/16. Please don’t enter if you can’t use them.
- I know a bunch of you will be disappointed and only one person will be happy. I’m sorry but, hey, that’s the way it goes. Still much better than the other alternative (not giving away anything).
- One email per person please. Send by 11:59 PST tonight.
- That inbox will be for contest entries only and most emails there won’t be read or responded to.
- Send to the address below with the subject “National Contest.”
Lyft’s Turn
The Uber/Lyft I’m-better-than-you-one-upmanship continues. Uber gave existing users a free 5 bucks and Lyft waited all of a day to double that. I like battles that end with more deals for us.
Wednesday Stuff
- Some rare free money for existing Uber nerds. Get 5 bucks with code LAYSSUMMER if you need a ride before Monday. Just add to Promotions in your app.
- Take a look at Hyatt’s new chart. If you don’t like any of the changes, they don’t don’t start until August 1, so book before then. My least favorite move is a category increase for the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco.
- A bunch of you guys I know well have spent big amounts of money buying plastic at Rite Aid and were denied yesterday. Highly unusual. I had a few minutes and decided to try for myself. I’ve a Rite Aid regular and have become friends with the employees at my local store. Well, that didn’t matter. There wasn’t a thing they could do. Hopefully I’m wrong but it looks like another one is dead. Aaaaaaand the deal carnage of 2015/2016 continues…
Discover Double Cashback Results
I posted like a crackhead about Discover’s very generous promo last year. Double cashback on everything is nuts. Then with the Apple Pay promo on top of that…they were almost literally just handing money to us. Anyway, my year of doubled cash has ended and the grand total I made was just under $4,000. Half of that was maxing out the Apple Pay deal and the rest was from spending. I know some of you hit it harder and that’s awesome. I highly recommend taking full advantage of the great deals that come along (see JetBlue madness in the last couple of weeks).
